Enrique Granados: Goyescas.

Enrique Granados was fascinated by Francisco Goya (1746-1828), whose name defined an entire era in Spanish culture. His tribute to the great painter took the form for piano under the title Goyescas; the composer first performed the suite in 1911 during a recital in Catalonia. Granados 's masterpiece is a gem among Spanish piano works; despite its passionate energy, it retains a classical feel in its beauty and restraint.

In 2006 Trio Campanella released their second cd featuring the first version of Goyescas played on guitars (transcribed for guitar trio by Christophe Dejour).
