Manuel de Falla: Fantasía Bética

Manuel de Falla's piano work; Fantasía Bética is composed in 1919 for the pianist Arthur Rubinstein. Bética (or Baetica) is the old Roman name for Andalusia and de Falla's fantasy is characterised throughout by elements of traditional music the way we meet this in Cante jondo. The influence from the guitar-playing is heard from the very beginning and the impressionist inspired art of sound has been given a remarkable twist towards a more dramatic, at times quite rough, art of expression.

Trio Campanella's new repertoire includes this fantastic flamenco style fantasy in Christophe Dejour's arrangement. Once again is Trio Campanella working with a piece never been arranged for the guitar before.
